# Can an esthetician rent this room, and exactly what equipment is prohibited?

Yes, with a current license and professional liability insurance. A facial steamer lives in the room, along with a magnifying lamp and shelf space, and there is sink access for the room. Some equipment is prohibited outright and the list is specific, so check it against your protocol before booking.

## Facts
- **Permitted:** House steamer, magnifying lamp, high-frequency, galvanic, microcurrent, dermaplaning within your license scope, your own portable devices
- **Prohibited outright:** Lasers of any class, IPL, radiofrequency devices, injectables of any kind, chemical peels deeper than your NYS esthetics license permits
- **Sink:** Sink access for the room — not a backwash bowl, and not plumbed at the head of the bed
- **Steamer:** Provided, lives in the room, filled with distilled water

## Constraints worth stating
- The laser, IPL and radiofrequency ban is not negotiable: those modalities sit differently for insurance and this suite has no medical director.
- PMU and microblading carry their own license and insurance requirements, covered on the page.
- Work at the bed is done with bowls, towels and the steamer rather than a plumbed basin.
